Smart Cookie

She is a good friend of mine from university. She is very smart, from very smart parents. In early 20s she’s got her M.Sc, and B.Sc. in Computer Science. She is also a great Artist and has done quite a number of beautiful paintings. I owe her parents for life because they have been my professors at university. I learned all I needed to know about System Design, Computer Architecture, and Software Engineering from her parents, and they did such a good job educating me.

A Weekend Downtown Trip

One of the fun things I like to do when getting together with my lady friends on a weekend is to go from coffee shop to coffee shop, order drinks, deserts and use the environment settings to create fun images.
When I picked up Fashion Illustration
Somewhere I read “Body of a woman: Simplicity of a line, complexity of a curve”. I am obsessed with the female form, legs, feet, arms, hands, facial features and I think every curve in a female body is full of mysteries. A nice dress complements a woman’s body, and shoes are pedestals to put out a lady on display as nature’s ultimate work of design and architecture.
No I am not superficial. I’m completely aware that people can have more than just a pretty box as their body. I am perfectly aware that woman are people too with good ,evil, happy, sad, inspiring, depressing thoughts, feelings, and desires. Believe me as a system designer I know where to separate design from the content.
It’s just that nature has decided to make the female form look more beautiful. Probably men are sketchy prototypes for making women.
I’ve noticed something about myself when I am in a bar, restaurant, dance club, coffee shop, or on the street and see a beautiful lady pass by, I am not necessary fantasizing about what happens between the sheets! in fact there are times that I am admiring the lines, curves, proportions, colors, elegant moves and the character. I think people on the street are more beautiful than fashion models, hollywood actors ,and actresses. I wonder if he or she on the street knows that too.
Do I make any sense?

I picked up drawing and fashion illustration as a hobby 1.5 years ago simply to nurture that obsession in me. No I didn’t go to the Fashion school, what I did was to order books from Amazon.com and start teaching myself how to draw using traditional medium good old pencil and paper.

The drawings that you see are the result of self training from the book Fashion Illustration Concept to Creation by Steven Stipelman. Right Now I am practicing from the book Figure Drawing for Fashion Design by Elisabetta Drudi and Tiziana Paci. I will keep you posted.

Ryan
This set is about an old friend of mine. He was my roommate back when we were both university students. Ryan was very intelligent, he was an “A” student, and he had a great sense of humor. We couldn’t afford to have cable but Ryan was there to entertain us. Ryan was also a great athlete and a Triathlon champion. In -10 degrees weather in Prince George he would go out for a run, then he would head for the swimming pool.
He had this obsession with Monkeys. Perhaps because he was so playful and full of energy himself all the time. He also really enjoyed cooking.

Ryan inspired me to pick up pencil and paper again and try to teach myself freehand drawing. Ryan had such a confident hands when he drew. A couple of drinks, good music, and some hot chicks on a weekend would get him to pick up a marker and draw the most amazing stuff on the refrigerator door. Ryan had the biggest heart, would participate in charity events, he was so reliable and responsible that I could leave all my belongings with him.
Ryan was a true chick magnet. He was like catnip for the girls; the guy was a bar star. He could pick up any girl he wanted.
I don’t know where he is and what he is doing right now, but where ever he is I wish him nothing but happiness and success.

UNBC Glamour Photography Project
After finishing university I wasn’t really planning to attend my graduation ceremony. I was so happy that I am getting out of Prince George that nothing could make me go back, but I did want to have some sort of special ending to the Academic Sadomasochism (Pain + Pleasure). So I arranged my own personalized graduation party. I asked 8 of the ladies on campus who were somehow part of my everyday school experience to pose for my camera in their favorite outfit.
Three of the candidates where my friends; they knew me well and where happy to participate. The rest were complete strangers whom with I had no more history than occasional eye contacts on the campus.

Five of the candidates showed up which was more than enough to keep me busy. I tell you it took a lot of planning to make the whole thing happen. None of them were professional models which was a good thing, and I used natural light to make all of the images. In order to respect the privacy of the participant’s I have named them after different types of tea. I like drinking tea.

Surprise Surprise!
Oh man it is almost ready, I managed to combine my blog and photography website during the weekend, all under one domain name. Sure there are some bugs that I need to be worked out but most things work just fine, and I will improve things over time. Please don’t get this as a Grand opening of some sort, think of it as a transformation, or mutation or whatever you want to call it. It would be nice if I could start the first post of this photography journal with some new snazzy pictures but unfortunately I have been recovering from a nasty flue from the past few days.
Alright then … this is my new Photography Journal which is powered by wonderful Flickr and it’s contents will grow overtime. I’ve got lots of pictures from the past 5 years on my current album, and each set has a story behind it. So from now on I either post new contents or I could write about the tale behind each photography set from the past.
