Zak the big dog with the great personality who lived in West Vancouver is no longer with us. He had to be put to rest for having a tumor and he was in such a pain. Zak was 9 years old at the time.
I remember every night that I would go to starbucks to get my late evening caffeine fix, Zak and his Mom Dona would drop by to say hello. He would grab everyone’s attention for his enormous size, eyes who came in 2 different colors - one amber, one blue - and his great personality.
He was such a dude! … didn’t like to be hugged by strangers but he would press his giant head to your belly as a sign of friendship and sure would have appreciated it if you had any cookies on you!
Zak wasn’t my dog, but he was everyone’s dog. We all knew him in this neighborhood.
I never heard this dog bark. He always Howled for a bit of the Wolf in him. Specially if you would have told him “Zak! are you going Home? …. Home!” and he would give you this long loud howling sound.
Today Zak is finally home living happily in peace in heaven.
