If you haven’t heard of Freddie Mercury’s music ( Queen ) you don’t know about Rock’n Roll. Today I stumbled upon Freddie Mercury’s bio on Wikipedia. I thought certain aspects of his life were pretty interesting:

“he earned a Diploma in Art and Graphic Design at Ealing Art College.”

“He made occasional references to being Persian in interviews, but his parents are both Indian Parsis. Due to their Persian descent, it’s relatively common for Parsis to refer to themselves as “Persian”.”

“According to the January 2004 edition of Cat Fancy, Mercury possessed a great fondness for cats, at one point owning as many as ten. Mercury’s personal assistant, Peter Freestone, wrote that his boss “put as much importance on them [his cats] as any human life.” The album Mr. Bad Guy and the song “Delilah” were dedicated to cats, and Mercury wore clothes featuring cats in videos and on album covers.”

Here is the link, read it for yourself:

Last night the girls in our pack convinced the guys to watch the chick flick movie “Dream Girls” late at night. Beyonce Knowles is hot! Movie had lots of good performance with poorly done transitions glued together with tacky glue! every time a song started it felt like Caffeine Withdrawal. Oh and Beyonce Knowles is really hot! Anyhow we got big time defeated by our girls last night. Oh … I feel a song coming, I am about to sing, … I better go now!

Fever - From Cabaret Blue Star

I love photography using the available light. Why is it that many photographers still perceive a good photograph as evenly exposed subjects with super soft light? I think all the light and shadows in a composition have to be preserved as they are; I think Flash is a real mood killer; it makes the extraordinary ordinary.

Interior Designers and Architects master the art of lighting in their designs. They use primary, and secondary light sources to create the right mood for the space, or structure that they are planning for. Same principals could be applied to photography too.

This image was sitting in my portfolio and yet I didn’t have it up on my Flickr account. It is taken using available light as I usually like to do it. Juanita is a professional Ballet and Jazz dancer.

Here are some more images from the last Thursday’s Showboat Swing Dance. Swing dance could become a contact sport sometimes; Dancers burn lots of calories on the floor, and feel really hungry and dehydrated afterwards. After few hours of dance a group of us usually go to a sushi restaurant.

Every thursday from 7:00 PM these cats get together for swing dance on Showboat stage in Kitsilano Beach Vancouver. Apparently this has been happening every summer for the last 7 years or so. Very fun and friendly crowd I must say I wish they could have done it more often every week. I am still learning how to dance myself, oh man you should see those people in motion. I am planning to take more pictures at the Showboat everyweek so this photoset will be growing.

This weekend I received a wonderful package from Dawn. She has released her first Jazz CD, and it is beautiful.

Tinge of Tangerine Tinge of Tangerine

I met Dawn back in 2001 in Prince George when I was a university student. That year I participated in a Technology Trade show called IDEAWorks, and Dawn was in the booth next to me. That night my project won the first prize and Dawn, being a great writer that she was, had been assigned to write an article about me.

Then I realized Dawn’s passion for Jazz music. She could sing and play the piano beautifully. later on I have been joining most of her concerts and photographing her on stage while she was performing her magic. It was the best thing ever for me since I was a big city guy stuck in a small town called Prince George and had a hard time relating to people.

Later on when I made more friends, I would often take them all to Dawn’s Jazz concerts. She also introduced me to the Judy Russell’s EnchaĆ®nement Dance Centre where I could be a part of a reproduction of Chicago Musical, you can see some of those images on my Dance and Drama set. With no compromise I must say, Dawn brought Jazz to Prince George; something that I once thought would be impossible.

Thank you Dawn for the precious gift, I wish you and your wonderful family all the best.
